Subject: Front Side Door Window Squeaking Noise, Reversal During Express Up (Align/Replace Weatherstrip)

Models:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Built Before VIN Breakpoint A9114092

Condition

Some customers may comment about a squeaking noise coming from the front area of the door when raising or lowering the front side door window. On some vehicles, the window may also reverse direction when using the express up feature.

Cause

Important:
Do not replace the door window, window regulator or window regulator motor to correct this condition. These conditions may be caused by the front door front run channel weatherstrip (outside rearview mirror seal) being inverted and folded forward by the inner beltline seal.

Correction

Use the following steps to correct the condition.

1. Remove the front side door trim panel on the affected door. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in SI.

2. Remove the three screws that retain the exterior mirror patch. It is not necessary to completely remove the mirror patch.

3. Using a trim stick, reposition the front door run channel weatherstrip on the door to remove any twists or bows. Also inspect the seal for any splits or tears in the area that was out of alignment.

4. Ensure the gap between the inner and outer seal is even and the surfaces are parallel.

5. Cycle the window to ensure the condition is corrected.

6. Reinstall the exterior mirror patch.

7. Reinstall the front side door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in SI. When reinstalling the door trim panel, ensure the inner belt seal is not collapsing or distorting the front door run channel weatherstrip. It may be necessary to reposition the inner belt seal rearward if it is distorting the front door run channel weatherstrip.

If the existing front door run channel weatherstrip (outside rearview mirror seal) can not be made to fit and function correctly, it will be necessary to replace it with a new part. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Seal Replacement in SI for replacement procedures.
