M/T - Squeak Noise From Shifter Knob

Subject: Squeak Noise from Manual Transmission Shifter (Remove Material from Silver Cover)

Models:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Attention:
This bulletin only applies to manual transmissions with leather shifter knobs.

Condition

Customers may comment that they hear a squeak noise coming from the manual transmission shift knob.

Cause

This condition may be caused by contact between the silver cover and the chrome trim ring.

Correction





1. Remove the silver cover (1) on the rear of shift knob using a blunt, flat, stiff plastic tool

Note
Take care not to blemish the visible silver surface

2. Remove approximately 1 mm (0.040 in) of material off the silver cover where it interferes (2) with the chrome trim ring.

3. Reinstall the silver cover.
