Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the windshield washer fluid pump based on an input from the wiper/washer switch. The BCM monitors the washer switch through the wiper/washer switch signal circuit. When the wash switch is closed, ground is supplied to the windshield washer switch signal circuit. When this is the case, the BCM will command the windshield washer fluid pump and the low speed wipers on.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Windshield Washer Switch parameter while activating the S80 Window Wiper/Washer Switch. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive.
• If the value does not change, refer to Wiper/Washer Switch Malfunction.
2. Operate the windshield washer using the S80 Window Wiper/Washer Switch. Verify the G24 Windshield Washer Pump activates. Verify the washer fluid reservoir is filled up.
• If the G24 Windshield Washer Pump does not run, refer to Washer Pump Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Note: You must perform the Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.
Wiper/Washer Switch Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module. Wait for one minute.
2. Test for less than 5 ohm between the signal circuit terminal 10 X3 and the signal low reference terminal 25 X3 while activating the wash function.
• If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S80 Window Wiper/Washer Switch.
3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the K9 Body Control Module.
Washer Relay Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X2 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
2. Disconnect the harness connector X4 at the K9 Body Control Module.
3. Test for less than 5 ohm between the control circuit terminal 21 X2 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood and the signal circuit terminal 14 X4 at the K9 Body Control Module.
• If the value is not within the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the K9 Body Control Module.
4. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 21 X2 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood and ground.
• If the value is not within the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground.
5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
Washer Pump Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the G24 Windshield Washer Pump.
2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2.
• If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
3. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2 while activating the wash function.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance.
4. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2 while activating the wash function.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
5. Test for less than 5 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
• If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an short to voltage or an open/high resistance.
• If all circuits test normal, replace the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
Component Testing
Wiper/Washer Switch
Static Test
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the Harness Connector at the S80 Window Wiper/Washer Switch. Test for less than 5 ohm between the Wiper/Washer Switch terminal 2 and 5 while activating the washer function.
• If not the specified value, replace the S80 Window Wiper/Washer Switch.
Washer Pump Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the G24 Windshield Washer Pump.
2. Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between the ground terminal 2 and ground.
3. Verify the G24 Windshield Washer Pump is activated.
• If the G24 Windshield Washer Pump does not activate, replace the G24 Windshield Washer Pump.
