Technicians may find that the vehicles listed above will not clear TCM I/M Test DTCs that are stored, even after the problem has been repaired.
I/M Test DTCs are different than traditional DTCs and are used as parts of certain State/Province vehicle emission test programs. I/M Test DTCs cannot be cleared by a scan tool and will only clear when the diagnostic that set the DTC has confirmed the problem has been repaired. Stored I/M Test DTCs discovered during a vehicle emission test may cause a vehicle to fail or be rejected from the test.
A revised calibration has been developed to address this concern. Update the TCM module using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the Service Programming System (SPS) procedures in SI.
When using a Tech 2(R) or a Multiple Diagnostic Interface (MDI) for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version. During programming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 volts. Only use the approved Midtronics(R) PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) or equivalent during programming.
Warranty Information
For vehicles reprogrammed under the 8 year/80,000 mile (130,000 km) emission controller warranty, use the table.
