Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the rear muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the bolts from the trailing brackets to the frame. Refer to Rear Axle Control Trailing Arm and Rear Suspension Control Arm Bracket Replacement (Rear Axle Control Trailing Arm and Rear Suspension Control Arm Bracket Replacement).
5. Remover the rear coil springs. Refer to Rear Spring Insulator Replacement (Rear Spring Insulator Replacement).
6. Remove the park brake cables from the trailing arms. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the rear brake calipers from the knuckles. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
8. Remove the upper shock absorber bolts. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (Shock Absorber Replacement).
9. Support and secure adjustable jack stands to the rear support.
10. Remove the mounting bolts for the support. Refer to Support Replacement (Support Replacement).
11. Lower the support enough to gain access to the rear stabilizer shaft insulator clamps mounting bolts.
12. Remove the stabilizer shaft to knuckle bolts.
13. Remove the stabilizer shaft assembly (4) from the support (5).
14. Remove the stabilizer shaft clamps (2), bolts (1) and the insulator (3).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the insulators (3), the clamps (2), on the stabilizer shaft (4).
2. Install the stabilizer shaft (4) on the support (5).
Caution: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution (Component Fastener Tightening Caution).
3. Install the clamp bolts (1) and tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).
4. Install the stabilizer shaft to knuckle bolts and tighten the bolts to 55 Nm (41 lb ft).
Note: When lifting the rear support back into position, guide the rear shock absorbers into the proper mounting position.
5. Raise the rear support back into position.
6. Install the rear support bolts (1). Refer to Support Replacement (Support Replacement).
7. Install the upper shock absorber mounting bolts. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (Shock Absorber Replacement)
8. Install the trailing arm bracket bolts. Refer to Rear Axle Control Trailing Arm and Rear Suspension Control Arm Bracket Replacement (Rear Axle Control Trailing Arm and Rear Suspension Control Arm Bracket Replacement).
9. Install the rear coil springs. Refer to Rear Spring Insulator Replacement (Rear Spring Insulator Replacement).
10. Remove the adjustable jack stands from the rear support.
11. Install the rear brake calipers on the knuckles. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
12. Install the park brake cables on the trailing arms. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Install the rear muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
15. Lower the vehicle.
