Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair




Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement Removal and Replacement.
2. Disconnect the fuel tank vent pipe quick connect fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
3. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister pipe quick connect fitting (2) from the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.




4. Remove the EVAP canister purge pipe from the retaining feature (3) built into the fuel tank.
5. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector from the canister, if equipped.
6. Reposition the fuel tank fuel pump wiring harness from around the EVAP canister.




7. Remove the EVAP canister bolt.
8. Slide up and remove the EVAP canister.

Installation Procedure




1. Position and install the EVAP canister.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the EVAP canister bolt.

Tighten the bolt 3.5 Nm (31 lb in).




3. Position the fuel tank fuel pump wiring harness around the EVAP canister.
4. Connect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector at the canister, if equipped.
5. Install the EVAP canister purge pipe to the retaining feature (3) built into the fuel tank.




6. Connect the EVAP canister pipe quick connect fitting (2) to the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve. Refer toPlastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
7. Connect the EVAP canister vent pipe quick connect fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
8. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement Removal and Replacement.
