DTC P0602
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Diagnostic Procedure Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptor
DTC P0602
- Control Module Not Programmed
Circuit/System Description
This is an internal fault detection of the transmission control module (TCM). This fault is handled inside the TCM and no external circuits are involved.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The ignition is ON.
* The TCM runs the diagnostic software once an ignition cycle.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
* The TCM detects that there is no software data written in the fixed address in the calibration area.
* The controller is identified as a service replacement TCM.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The TCM will request the illumination of Blink/Hold Lamp and store the DTC when the TCM detects a failure on the first consecutive ignition cycle.
* DTC P0602 is a type C1 DTC.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The TCM turns off the Blink/Hold Lamp when no further failures are detected on the next ignition cycle.
* The scan tool can clear the DTC from the TCM history.
* The TCM clears the DTC from the TCM history memory after 40 consecutive ignition cycles without fault.
