Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the instrument panel trim pad assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (with UV6) (Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (With UV6))Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (without UV6) (Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Without UV6)).
2. Remove the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Steering Column Replacement).
3. Remove the windshield. Refer to Windshield Replacement (Windshield Replacement).
4. Remove the nut (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle cowl panel.
5. Remove the fasteners securing the brake pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the fasteners securing the clutch pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Clutch Pedal Replacement (Clutch Pedal Replacement).
7. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.
8. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel tie bar and position out of the way.
9. Remove the 2 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the windshield frame and plenum panel.
10. Remove the 5 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the HVAC module assembly.
11. Remove the 8 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle body.
12. Support the HVAC module assembly, as needed.
13. Remove the instrument panel tie bar assembly (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the instrument panel tie bar assembly into the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the 8 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle body and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
3. Install the 5 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the HVAC module assembly and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
4. Install the 2 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the windshield frame and plenum panel and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
5. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness into vehicle position as was noted in the removal process and connect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel tie bar.
6. If equipped with a manual transmission, Install the fasteners securing the clutch pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Clutch Pedal Replacement (Clutch Pedal Replacement).
7. Install the fasteners securing the brake pedal assembly to the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the nut (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle cowl panel and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
9. Install the windshield. Refer to Windshield Replacement (Windshield Replacement).
10. Install the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Steering Column Replacement).
11. Install the instrument panel trim pad assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (with UV6) (Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (With UV6))Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (without UV6) (Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Without UV6)).
