Condition
Some customers may comment that the accent lighting on the door trim panel loses intensity and does not carry on across to the instrument panel.
Cause
Note
The lighting does not carry on to or across the instrument panel.
The normal operation of the door accent lighting is the light will be brightest at the rear of the door panel and gradually lose intensity until approximately 76 mm (3 in) (1) from the front edge of the trim panel. The lighting does not carry on to or across the instrument panel. If the light stops at the center of the door (2), proceed with this bulletin.
Correction
Important
Do not replace the door trim panel to correct illumination concerns.
If the light stops at the center of the door, remove the trim panel and make sure the light bar (pipe):
1. Is in the channel
2. Has not dipped down
3. Is properly retained by the retaining clips (2)
4. End cap (1) is properly installed
To verify normal operation, apply 12 volts to the connector and make sure the light is brightest at the rear of the panel and gradually dims towards the front of the door panel.
If the light bar (pipe) is not illuminated the full length, is noticeably different from side to side or inoperative, replace the lamp-harness assembly. There are two different part numbers based on the illumination color of the lamp.
