Circuit/System Description
The solenoid valves are integral parts of the brake pressure modulator valve assembly. The brake pressure modulator valve assembly contains an isolation solenoid valve and a dump solenoid valve for each wheel and a traction control/stability control prime solenoid valve and isolation solenoid valve for each brake circuit. The solenoid valves are not engaged during normal system operation. When the ABS, traction control or stability control operation is required the electronic brake control module (EBCM) turns the required solenoid valves ON.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition ON
Conditions for Setting the DTC
C0060 00-C0095 00, C0141 00, C0146 00, C0151 00, or C0156 00
* A short to ground, short to voltage or open/high resistance on the solenoid valve circuit is detected for 0.03 s.
* A short circuit between the solenoid valve circuits is detected for 0.03 s.
* An invalid solenoid valve feedback signal is detected.
C0121 00
* A short to ground or open/high resistance is detected on the valve relay B+ circuit for 0.5 s.
* A malfunctioning valve relay is detected.
* A short to voltage, short to ground or open/high resistance on the valve relay output circuit is detected.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the ABS, traction control and stability control for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The ABS indicator turns ON.
* The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
* The EBCM will turn OFF the indicators and enable the system functions in the next ignition cycle after driving at a speed of greater than 15 km/h (9 MPH).

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, command the ABS and Traction Control Solenoid Valves ON and OFF with the scan tool. The solenoid valves should turn ON and OFF.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM).
2. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal 38 and B+.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 25 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and verify the DTC does not reset.
• If the DTC resets, replace the Q5 brake pressure modulator valve assembly.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
