67. Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection




Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection




1. Remove the oil filter fitting (438) as required.




2. Remove the active fuel management oil pressure relief valve (455) and washer (458).




3. Inspect the active fuel management oil pressure relief valve for proper operation. Lightly depress the ball (2). The valve spring (1) should seat the ball to the proper closed position.




4. Remove the oil level sensor and O-ring.




5. Remove the bolts (427) and baffle (428).
6. Clean the oil pan in solvent.
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Warning (Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Warning).

7. Dry the oil pan with compressed air.




8. Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:

* Damaged gasket surfaces (1)
* Restrictions within the oil passages (2) of the pan
* Damaged oil filter seal surface (3)
* Threaded bolt holes (4) for damage




9. Install the baffle (428) and baffle bolts (427).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

10. Tighten the baffle bolts (427) to 12 Nm (106 lb in).




11. Install the oil level sensor O-ring seal.
12. Install the oil level sensor and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




13. Install the active fuel management oil pressure relief valve (455) and washer (458).
14. Tighten the active fuel management oil pressure relief valve (455) to 27 Nm (20 lb ft).




15. Install the oil filter fitting (438) as required.
16. Tighten the oil filter fitting to 55 Nm (40 lb ft).
