Circuit/System Description
The window switches are contained within the driver window switch. The driver window switch internally supplies power and ground to the contacts of each of the integral window switches. When one of the switches is operated, the switch contacts close, providing the driver window switch with a specific window switch signal. The driver window switch processes this signal, assigns a digital message to it, and sends the message to the driver door module (DDM) or passenger door module (PDM) via the serial data circuit. The door module, upon receiving the message, examines other relevant information available on the serial data line in order to determine if conditions are correct for window operation to occur. If conditions are correct, the door module applies power and ground to the associated window motor and circuits in order to move the window.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The driver window switch detects a continuous UP, DOWN, EXPRESS UP or EXPRESS DOWN command for greater than 30 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The DDM will ignore the affected input from the driver window switch.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.
