DTC B3602

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptor
DTC B3602
- Convertible Top Control Switch

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The folding top control (FTC) module checks the integrity of the signal circuits from the folding top control switch at least once every 300 milliseconds. The folding top control switch has a constant battery positive voltage supplied. Pressing the folding top control switch to the open or close position will apply the battery positive voltage to the appropriate folding top control switch open or close signal circuit to the FTC module. The FTC module monitors these signal circuits to control the direction of the folding top.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module must be powered and can not have B1327 or B1328 set as active DTCs for this DTC to set. The battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* When the FTC module detects inputs on both the folding top control switch open and close signal circuits at the same time.
* When the FTC module detects either of the folding top control switch open or close signal circuits active for 3 minutes or more.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The folding top operation is suspended.
* The FTC module stores B3602 as a current and history DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* This DTC will clear on the current status after the condition for setting the fault is corrected.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the folding top control switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Top Control Switch parameter is Inactive.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuits terminal 2 and terminal 5 for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the FTC module.

3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the folding top control switch.

Component Testing

Folding Top Control Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the folding top control switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the B+ terminal 4 with the switch in the open position.

If not the specified value, replace the folding top control switch.

3. Test for less than 1 ohm between the signal terminal 2 and the B+ terminal 4 with the switch in the closed position.

If not the specified value, replace the folding top control switch.

4. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 5 and the B+ terminal 4 with the switch in the open position.

If not the specified value, replace the folding top control switch.

5. Test for less than 1 ohm between the signal terminal 5 and the B+ terminal 4 with the switch in the closed position.

If not the specified value, replace the folding top control switch.
