Removal and Replacement




Battery Replacement (LS7 or LS9)

Removal Procedure

1. Open the RH rear compartment storage bin to access the battery.
2. Disconnect the battery vent hose.




3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
4. Disconnect the positive battery cable.




5. Remove the battery hold down retainer nuts and retainer.
6. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the battery.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the battery hold down retainer and bolts and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).




3. Connect the positive battery cable and tighten the bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

Important: Replacement batteries may require the vent plug in the battery vent hole to be moved from one end of the battery to the other to permit vent tube installation per original design.


4. Connect the battery vent hose.
5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
6. Close the RH rear compartment storage bin.
7. Perform the reinitialization of the power windows. Refer to Power Window Reinitialization (Programming and Relearning).
8. Reset the steering position soft stops and driver seat position memory. Refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning).
