Stabilizer Shaft Replacement

EN-45059 - Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).




3. Using a back-up wrench to prevent the link stud from rotating, remove the stabilizer shaft link nuts from the stabilizer shaft.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft clamps, bolts and nuts retaining the shaft to the crossmember.
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps to the stabilizer shaft and the crossmember.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the stabilizer clamp bolts and tighten to 110 Nm (81 lb ft).
4. Install the stabilizer shaft clamp nuts.
5. Using the EN-45059 - meter and a torque wrench, tighten the nuts to:

* First Pass: 60 Nm (44 lb ft).
* Final Pass: plus 60 degrees

Note: back-up wrench to prevent the link stud from rotating,

6. Using the EN-45059 - meter and a torque wrench, tighten the stabilizer shaft links nuts to:

* First Pass: 60 Nm (44 lb ft).
* Final Pass: plus 30 degrees

7. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
8. Lower the vehicle.
