Engine Coolant Fan Replacement

Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LDE,LXT,LXV, L2W, 2H0, LUW-MT) (1.8L)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill))Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill)).




3. Disconnect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness connector (1).
4. Remove the wiring harness (3).




5. Remove the hood hold open rod retainer bracket bolt (1).
6. Remove the hood hold open rod retainer bracket (2).
7. Remove the radiator inlet hose clamp (4) and the radiator inlet hose (5) from the radiator.
8. Unclip the engine coolant fan (3) from the four mounting points.

Note: Move the engine coolant fan to the right side and lift it up.

9. Remove the engine coolant fan (3).




10. Remove the engine coolant fan resistor (1) by uncliping the retainer clip (2).
11. Unclip the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness (arrows) from the shroud.
12. Remove the 3 engine coolant fan motor bolts (3) from the engine coolant fan.
13. Remove the engine coolant fan.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the engine coolant fan.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

2. Install the 3 engine coolant fan motor bolts (3) to the engine coolant fan and tighten to 4 Nm (36 lb in).
3. Clip in the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness (arrows) to the shroud.
4. Install the engine coolant fan resistor (1) by clipping the retainer clip (2).




5. Install the engine coolant fan (3).
6. Clip in the engine coolant fan (3) to the four mounting points.
7. Install the radiator inlet hose clamp (4) and the radiator inlet hose (5) to the radiator.
8. Install the hood hold open rod retainer bracket (2).
9. Install the hood hold open rod retainer bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (17 lb ft).




10. Connect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness connector (1).
11. Install the wiring harness (3).
12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill))Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill)).
13. Connect the negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
