LubricateDoors
Lubricate body hinges and latches, key lock cylinders, hood latch assemblies, secondary latches, pivots, spring anchor and release pawl, hood and door hinges, rear folding seats, and liftgate hinges. More frequent lubrication may be required when the vehicle is exposed to a corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on weatherstrips with a clean cloth makes them last longer, seal better, and not stick or squeak.
Inspect
Wiper Blade
Inspect wiper blades for wear, cracking, or contamination. Clean the windshield and wiper blades, if contaminated. Replace wiper blades that are worn or damaged.
Steering and Suspension
Visually inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts, signs of wear.
Spare Tire
Check the sealant expiration date printed on the instruction label of the tire sealant and compressor kit.
Shift Interlock, A/T
Refer to Electrical Drive Unit Shift Lock Control Function Check in Scheduled Maintenance.
Restraints and Safety Systems
Inspect restraint system components. Make sure the safety belt reminder light and all your belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors and anchorages are working properly. Look for any other loose or damaged safety belt system parts. If you see anything that might keep a safety belt system from doing its job, have it repaired. Have any torn or frayed safety belts replaced. Also look for any opened or broken air bag coverings, and have them repaired or replaced. The air bag system does not need regular maintenance.
Parking Brake System
Refer to Park Brake Mechanism Check in Scheduled Maintenance.
Neutral Safety Switch
Refer to Propulsion System Start Check in Scheduled Maintenance.
Hood Shock / Support
Hood/Decklid/Liftgate Support Gas Strut Service: Visually inspect gas strut, if equipped, for signs of wear, cracks, or other damage. Check the hold open ability of the gas strut.
Fuel Supply Line
Inspect fuel system for damage or leaks.
Exhaust System
Inspect exhaust system and nearby heat shields for loose or damaged components.
Emission Control Systems
Evaporative control system inspection. Check all fuel and vapor lines and hoses for proper hook-up, routing, and condition. Check that the purge valve, if the vehicle has one, works properly. Replace as needed.
Drive Belt
Inspect accessory drive belt. Visually inspect belt for fraying, excessive cracks, or obvious damage (or every 10 years whichever occurs first). Replace belt if necessary.
Brakes and Traction Control
Inspect Brake System (or every 12 months whicherer occurs first). Visually inspect brake lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect disc brake pads for wear and rotors for surface condition. Inspect other brake parts, including calipers, parking brake, etc.
Accelerator Pedal
Inspect accelerator pedal for damage, high effort, or binding. Replace if needed.
Replace
Oil Filter, Engine
Check the engine oil filter for corrosion if driving in a corrosive environment, such as areas of high humidity, along an ocean coast, and/or areas that apply road salt during winter. Replace the engine oil and filter if the filter shows signs of corrosion.
Engine Oil
Change engine oil and filter, or every 24 months whichever occurs first. Reset the oil life system.
Air Filter Element
Replace engine air cleaner filter.
Rotate
Wheels and Tires
Rotate tires and inspect inflation pressures and wear. Reset tire pressure monitior.
Flush
Cooling System
Engine cooling system service (or every 5 years, whichever occurs first). Drain, flush, and refill engine cooling system.
