Upper Control Arm Replacement

Special Tools

* EN-45059 - Angle Meter

* J-42188-B - Ball Joint Separator

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

3. Loosen the upper ball joint nut.




4. Install the J-42188-B - Ball Joint Separator to the steering knuckle.

5. Using the J-42188-B - Ball Joint Separator (1), separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle.

6. Remove the upper ball joint nut.

7. Support the steering knuckle and disconnect the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle.




8. Remove the upper control arm bolts (1).




9. Remove the upper control arm and spacers (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Position the upper control arm to the vehicle.




2. Install the upper control arm spacers (1) between the upper control arm and the upper control arm support.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the upper control arm bolts (1) and tighten to 65 Nm (48 lb ft).

4. Connect the upper ball joint to the steering knuckle.

5. Install the upper ball joint nut and using the EN-45059 - Angle Meter, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft) + 120 degrees.

6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
