Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The left front interior door handle, left front exterior door handle, right front interior door handle and right front exterior door handle switch signal circuits provide inputs to the driver door control module or passenger door control module when an interior or exterior door handle switch is activated. These inputs allow the door module to detect a door open request. The door modules provide voltage to the door handle switches.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B1474
The passenger door control module detects a short to ground on the exterior door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds
B2966
The remote control door lock receiver detects a short to ground on the interior door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds
B2981
The passenger door control module detects a short to ground on the interior door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds
B3848
The driver door control module detects a short to ground on the door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds
B3849
The DDM detects a short to ground on the exterior door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds
Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
The DDM or PDM will ignore the door handle switch input.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Ext. Driver Door Handle Switch and Ext. Psgr. Door Handle Switch parameters while using the driver and passenger exterior door handles. The parameters should change between Active and Inactive.
• If the value does not change, refer to Exterior Door Handle Malfunction.
2. Observe the scan tool Int. Driver Door Handle Switch and Int. Psgr. Door Handle Switch parameters while using the driver and passenger interior door handles. The parameters should change between Active and Inactive.
• If the value does not change, refer to Interior Door Handle Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Exterior Door Handle Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate exterior door handle switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the Ext. Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal D for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door control module.
3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the exterior door handle switch.
Interior Door Handle Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate interior door handle switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the Int. Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door control module.
3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the interior door handle switch.
Component Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate door handle switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal and the ground terminals listed below with the switch in the open position.
* Exterior passenger door handle switch signal terminal D and ground terminal C
* Exterior driver door handle switch signal terminal D and ground terminal C
* Interior passenger door handle switch signal terminal C and ground terminal A
* Interior driver door handle switch signal terminal C and ground terminal A
• If not the specified value, replace the door handle.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal and the ground terminals listed below with the switch in the closed position.
* Exterior passenger door handle switch signal terminal D and ground terminal C
* Exterior driver door handle switch signal terminal D and ground terminal C
* Interior passenger door handle switch signal terminal C and ground terminal A
* Interior driver door handle switch signal terminal C and ground terminal A
4. If greater than the specified range, replace the door handle.
