DTC Descriptors
DTC B3810 02
-
Headlamp Washer Relay Circuit Short to Ground
DTC B3810 05
-
Headlamp Washer Relay Circuit Open or Short to Voltage
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) provides a high side driver output through the headlamp washer relay control circuit that controls the headlamp washer relay.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B3810 02
The BCM detects a short to ground in the headlamp washer relay control circuit.
B3810 05
The BCM detects an open or short to voltage in the headlamp washer relay control circuit.
Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
The BCM disables the headlamp washer function.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The current DTC will become history when the request for the output is removed or when the condition for setting the fault is corrected.
* The history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the headlamp washer relay.
2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal A7 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp washer relay control circuit terminal C6 and the ground circuit terminal A7.
4. Command the headlamp washers ON and OFF with the headlamp washer switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the headlamp washer relay.
Component Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the HDLP WASH relay.
2. Test for 60-200 ohms between terminals C6 and A7.
• If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the relay.
3. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
* C6 and C7
* C6 and A6
* C7 and A7
* C7 and A6
• If not the specified value, replace the relay.
4. Install a 10A fused jumper wire between relay terminal C6 and 12 volts. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal A7 and ground. Test for less than 2 ohms between terminals C7 and A6.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the relay.
