Clutch Actuator Cylinder Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) lower insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement.
3. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod retainer (1).
4. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod (2) from the clutch pedal.
5. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
7. Remove the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
8. Separate the clutch hose (3) from the clutch master cylinder connection (2).
9. Protect both hose coupling ends from dirt and damage.
10. Remove the clutch slave cylinder bracket and bolt (1).
11. Remove the driveline support assembly and transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement Driveline Support Assembly Replacement.
12. Remove the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
13. Separate the clutch hose (2) from the clutch actuator cylinder.
14. Protect both the hose and actuator cylinder from dirt and damage.
15. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder mounting bolts.
16. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder from the driveline support assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the clutch actuator cylinder into position on the driveline support assembly.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the actuator cylinder mounting bolts and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
3. Install the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
Note:
DO NOT rely on an audible click or a visual verification of the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fitting connection.
4. Connect the clutch hose (2) to the clutch actuator cylinder.
Firmly push the clutch hydraulic hose to the clutch actuator cylinder, then pull back on the fittings to verify engagement.
5. Install the driveline support assembly and transaxle to the vehicle. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement Driveline Support Assembly Replacement.
6. Install the clutch slave cylinder bracket and bolt (1), then tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
7. Install the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
Note:
DO NOT rely on an audible click or a visual verification of the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fitting connection.
8. Connect the clutch actuator cylinder hose (3) to the clutch master cylinder hose (2).
Push together the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fittings, then pull back on the fittings to verify engagement.
9. Check the clutch hydraulic hoses for twists or kinks.
10. Install the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the hose retaining clip, under the brake master cylinder.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement Service and Repair.
13. Install the clutch master cylinder rod (2) to the clutch pedal.
14. Install the clutch master cylinder rod retainer (1).
15. Install the left I/P lower insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement.
16. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
17. Program the transmitters. 18. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch System Bleeding Service and Repair.
