Power Steering Fluid Cooling Pipe Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
4. Remove the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
5. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Right) Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side (Right)Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Left) Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side (Left).
6. Loosen the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) from the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3).
7. On the right side of the frame, disconnect the wire harness retainers and position the wire harness out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe.
8. On the right side of the frame, disconnect the 2 retainers and the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the frame.
9. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (2) from the lower power steering fluid reservoir, which is on the power steering pump (1).
10. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement.
11. Position the power steering gear inlet hose out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe on the steering gear.
12. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the steering gear.
13. Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe O-ring seal (2).
Discard the seal.
14. Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Caution:
Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution.
1. Position the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) in the vehicle.
2. Install a NEW power steering fluid cooling pipe O-ring seal (2).
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Connect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) to the steering gear. Tighten the fitting to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).
4. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement.
5. Connect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (2) to the lower power steering fluid reservoir, which is on the power steering pump (1). Secure the pipe with the hose clamp.
6. On the right side of the frame, connect the 2 retainers and the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) to the frame.
7. On the right side of the frame, connect the wire harness retainers.
8. Connect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) to the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3). Secure the pipe with the 2 hose clamps.
9. Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Right) Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side (Right)Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Left) Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side (Left).
10. Install the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
13. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
14. Remove the drain pans.
