Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Warning:
Refer to SIR Warning SIR Warning.


2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.

3. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Wheel Release Lever Replacement Steering Column Tilt Wheel Release Lever Replacement.

4. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement Steering Wheel Replacement.

5. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement.

6. Rotate the ignition lock cylinder to the crank position.





7. Use a suitable tool in order to push down and hold the lock cylinder retaining pin through the access hole (1) in the ignition lock cylinder case.

8. Release the ignition lock cylinder to the run position.





9. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the steering column.

Installation Procedure





1. Align the lock cylinder retaining pin with the access hole in the ignition lock cylinder case.

2. Push the ignition lock cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder case. Ensure the lock cylinder retaining pin engages the access hole.

3. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement.

4. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement Steering Wheel Replacement.

5. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Wheel Release Lever Replacement Steering Column Tilt Wheel Release Lever Replacement.

6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.

7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
