Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The front fog lamp relay is supplied with battery voltage at all times. By pressing the fog lamp switch at the headlamp switch, a voltage signal is given to the body control module (BCM). The BCM supplies the front fog lamp relay with ground. Battery voltage is given through the now closed fog lamp relay and the circuit fuse to the front fog lamps. The fog lamps will illuminate. A data transmission gives the instrument cluster the information that the fog lamps are activated and the fog lamp indicator will illuminate.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.
* Front fog lamps ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC B2530 01
The DTC will set when the BCM detects a short to battery in the front fog lamp relay control circuit for 5 s or greater.
DTC B2530 02
The DTC will set when the BCM detects a short to ground in the front fog lamp relay control circuit for 5 s or greater.
DTC B2530 04
The DTC will set when the BCM detects an open in the fog lamp relay control circuit for 5 s or greater.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTC B2530 01
When the DTC is present, the front fog lamps will not operate.
DTC B2530 02
When the DTC is present, the fog lamps and the fog lamps indicator is always on.
DTC B2530 04
When the DTC is present, the fog lamps will not operate.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the KR46 Front Fog Lamp Relay.
2. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 19 X2 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood and ground.
3. Command the Fog Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the front fog lamp relay.
