Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Open the front battery compartment battery fuse block.

3. Remove the positive battery cable, Refer to Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Fuse Block) Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Fuse Block).





4. Remove the fastener (3) retaining the positive cable (2) to the Mega-Fuse. Set the cable aside.

5. Remove the fastener (4) retaining the battery cable (5) from the front compartment fuse block. Disengage the cable.





6. Disengage the tabs retaining the battery fuse block (1) to the battery (2). Remove the battery fuse block (1).





Note:
Loosen the fastener enough to remove the hold down from the positive battery terminal.

7. Loosen the rear battery hold down tray retainer fastener from the rear battery hold down (1).

8. Disengage the rear retainer (1) from the positive cable terminal.

9. Remove the forward battery bracket fastener (3) and remove the bracket (2).





10. Remove the battery (2) from the battery tray (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Place the battery (2) into the battery tray (2).





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the forward battery (2) bracket and fastener (3) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

3. Install the rear retainer (1) over the positive cable terminal.

4. Tighten the rear battery hold down tray fastener to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).





5. Install the battery fuse block (1) to the battery (2).





6. Install the front compartment fuse block cable (5) to the battery fuse block (1) and tighten the fastener (4) to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

7. Install the positive cable (2) to the Mega-Fuse in the battery fuse block (1) and tighten the fastener (3) to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

8. Install the positive battery cable, Refer to Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Fuse Block) Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Fuse Block).

9. Close the front battery compartment battery fuse block.

10. Connect the negative battery and install the battery cover. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
