Check
Warning
Keep the brakes applied at all times in order to prevent unexpected vehicle motion. Personal injury may result if the vehicle moves unexpectedly.
Note:
Due to the risk of overheating, checking at full load must not take longer than 5 seconds. Add a pause for cooling down. The oil level in the transmission must be correct.
1. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Line Pressure Check.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel)Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel).
Warning
An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.
4. Remove the upper case plug (1).
5. Install DT-6329 - adapterto case hole.
6. Install DT-498-B - equipmentto adapter.
7. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel)Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel).
8. Connect the scan tool and check the oil temperature.
Note:
The oil temperature must be between 50°C (122°F) and 80°C (176°F).
9. Check the oil pressure in selector lever position "D".
* Start the engine.
* Move the selector lever to position "D".
* Check the oil pressure at idling speed and at full load - air conditioning and lighting disengaged.
- Desired value idling speed (foot brake not applied): 370 - 410 kPa (53.6 - 59.5 psi).
- Desired value full load: 1350 - 1460 kPa (195.8 - 211.7 psi).
* Switch off the engine after the check.
10. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel)Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel).
11. Remove DT-498-B - equipmentfrom adapter.
12. Remove DT-6329-B - adapterfrom case hole.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
13. Install the upper case hole plug (1) with a NEW sealing ring and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
14. Raise the vehicle.
15. Loosen electronic control module (ECM) wiring harness bracket from transmission. Remove bolt.
16. Remove the lower case plug (1).
17. Install DT-6329 - adapterto case hole.
18. Install DT-498-B - equipmentto adapter.
19. Lower the vehicle.
20. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Except Diesel)Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel).
21. Connect the scan tool and check the oil temperature.
Note:
The oil temperature must be between 50°C (122°F) and 80°C (176°F).
22. Check the oil pressure in selector lever position "R".
* Start the engine.
* Move the selector lever to position "R".
* Check the oil pressure at idling speed and at full load - air conditioning and lighting disengaged.
- Desired value idling speed (foot brake not applied): 570 - 660 kPa (82.7 - 95.7 psi).
- Desired value full load: 190 - 213 kPa (27.5 - 30.9 psi).
* Switch off the engine after the check.
23. Raise the vehicle.
24. Remove DT-498-B - equipmentfrom adapter.
25. Remove DT-6329 - adapterfrom case hole.
26. Install the lower plug (1) with a NEW sealing ring and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
27. Lower the vehicle.
28. Remove the scan tool.
