Hood Ajar Indicator Description and Operation

Hood Ajar Switch

The hood ajar switch provides closure status of the hood to the body control module (BCM). The switch is integrated into the hood latch assembly. The hood ajar switch provides two separate inputs to the BCM. These separate inputs allow the BCM to actively monitor for a hood ajar switch fault.

The BCM uses the hood ajar switch as a content theft deterrent alarm trigger.

Hood Ajar Indicator/Message

When the hood is ajar, a message is displayed on the driver information center (DIC) or the hood ajar indicator will be illuminated.
