Rear Side Door Window Upper Reveal Molding Replacement
Rear Side Door Window Upper Reveal Molding Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note:
The rear side door upper reveal molding can be replaced without the removal of the rear side door stationary window from the door.
1. Place the rear door window in the service position.
Note:
The rear side door reveal molding rear retainer will be damaged when removing. The new molding will be supplied with a new retainer. If reusing the molding it will be necessary to use 3M Scotch-Weld Urethane Adhesive DP-604NS or equivalent.
2. Insert a suitable plastic tool (1) under the center of the reveal molding (2), turn the suitable plastic tool (1) clockwise while pulling upward. This will allow the reveal molding to release from the stationary window frame. The rear section of the reveal molding is retained by a foam/tape and one retainer.
3. Remove the rear section of the reveal molding (1)
Note:
Do Not remove the existing foam/tape residue from the rear side door stationary window frame.
4. The rear side door upper rear section (1) of the reveal molding will leave a foam/tape residue on the window frame.
Installation Procedure
1. Clean around the surface of the rear side door with a 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water on a dampened lint free cloth.
Note:
Do Not remove the existing foam/tape residue from the rear side door stationary window.
2. Using a suitable tool (1), apply a bead of 3M Scotch-Weld Urethane Adhesive DP-604NS or equivalent over the existing foam/tape (2).
3. Place the rear door upper reveal (1) to the upper edge of the rear side door stationary window frame (2) first, working the reveal molding around the entire length of the frame until fully seated.
With the palm of your hand, push inward firmly around the entire periphery of the reveal molding in order to wet-out the urethane bead.
Note:
Keep the masking tape in place for 20 minutes before removing.
4. Use masking tape (1) to retain the reveal molding (2) to the door frame until the urethane adhesive cures.
Allow a minimum of 20 minutes for tack cure time, 6 hours at 21°C (70°F) or greater for full cure.
5. Clean around the surface of the rear side door reveal molding with a 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water on a dampened lint free cloth.
