DTC Descriptor

DTC B0946
- Suspension Tour Mode Indicator Circuit

DTC B0947
- Suspension Sport Mode Indicator Circuit

For symptom byte information, refer to Symptom Byte List Symptom Byte List.

Circuit/System Description

The suspension control tour indicator is located in the suspension control selection switch. The suspension control selection switch allows the driver to change the state of the suspension from Tour to Sport.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The electronic suspension control module has detected that the tour suspension control indicator LED circuit is shorted to voltage for longer than 60 s.

* The electronic suspension control module has detected that the tour suspension control indicator LED circuit is shorted to ground or has an open circuit for longer than 60 s.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The Electronic Suspension Control will enter the speed dependent damping mode.

* Both left and right normal force outputs will be set to the default output states.

* The Electronic Suspension Control module illuminates the LED in the Electronic Suspension Control switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.

* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON.

2. Connect a scan tool and verify that no other DTCs are set.

If other DTCs are set
Diagnose them first

If no other DTCs are set

3. Verify the scan tool suspension control switch parameter changes between ON and OFF as switch is toggled.

If the parameter does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing

If the parameter does change

4. All OK.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, and all vehicle systems OFF. Disconnect the harness connector at the S48E Multifunction Switch - Center Console. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.

2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.

If 10 ohms or greater

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Test for less than 2 ohms in the ground circuit end to end.

If 2 ohms or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

If less than 2 ohms, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.

If less than 10 ohms

3. Ignition ON.

4. Test for 4.8-5.2 V between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.

If less than 4.8 V

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.

2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.

If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.

If infinite resistance

3. Test for less than 2 ohms in the signal circuit end to end.

If 2 ohms or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

If less than 2 ohms, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.

If greater than 5.2 V

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module, ignition On.

2. Test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.

If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.

If less than 1 V, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.

If within 4.8-5.2 V

5. Test for 4.8-5.2 V between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground.

If less than 4.8 V

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K9 Body Control Module.

2. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground.

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K9 Body Control Module, ignition On.

2. Test for less than 1 V between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground.

If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.

If less than 1 V, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

If within 4.8-5.2 V

6. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground circuit terminal 8.

7. Verify the test lamp turns ON when commanding Tour Mode On and Off states with a scan tool.

If the test lamp remains ON during either or the commands

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K19 Suspension Control Module.

2. Test for infinite resistance between the ground circuit terminal 8 and ground.

If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.

If infinite resistance, replace the K19 Suspension Control Module.

If the test lamp turns OFF for each command

8. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground circuit terminal 7.

9. Verify the test lamp turns ON when commanding Sport Mode On and Off states with a scan tool.

If the test lamp remains OFF during either or the commands

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K19 Suspension Control Module.

2. Test for infinite resistance between the ground circuit terminal 7 and ground.

If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.

If infinite resistance, replace the K19 Suspension Control Module.

If the test lamp turns ON for each command

10. Replace the S48E Multifunction Switch - Center Console.
