Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The luggage barrier is a moveable shade used to divide the rear compartment into distinct sections. The luggage barrier contains a magnet in the stem that fits into the retainer slot containing the folding top luggage barrier sensor. The folding top luggage barrier sensor is sensitive to the presence or absence of the magnetic field produced by this magnet.
The folding top luggage barrier sensor is a two-wire Hall effect sensor providing an input signal to the folding top control module (FTC) indicating if the required trunk area is available for stowing the top.
The folding top control module supplies a switched battery voltage to one terminal. The other terminal is a current source providing the signal to the folding top control module.
When the luggage barrier is deployed and properly seated in the retainer, the magnet is close enough to change the sensor's output current into the 2 to 7ma range and the sensor is considered active. When the luggage barrier stem is removed from the retaining slot, the magnet is moved away from the sensor changing the sensor's output current into the 12 to 17ma range and the sensor is considered inactive.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.
* Folding top is operated.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B130A 01
The FTC module detects a short to voltage on the folding top luggage barrier sensor signal circuit.
B130A 06
* The FTC module detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance on the folding top luggage barrier sensor signal circuit.
* The FTC module detects an open/high resistance on the folding top luggage barrier sensor B+ circuit.
B130A 08
The folding top luggage barrier sensor signal voltage is outside the valid range.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* Folding top opens and closes when triggered without luggage barrier in place.
* DIC displays "Clear Top Storage Area" when folding top control switch is activated.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
Diagnostic Aids
* Scan tool must remain connected and turned on to keep K23 folding top module active during diagnostics.
* DTCs B130A 06 and B370E 04 set when the harness connector at the B43 folding top luggage barrier sensor is disconnected.
* A test lamp connected between terminals A and B of the B43 folding top luggage barrier sensor will illuminate at low intensity.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B43 folding top luggage barrier sensor.
2. Place the M40 rear compartment lid latch in the closed position simulating a closed trunk.
3. Connect a test lamp between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
4. Ignition ON, command the power folding top to open and close with the power folding top switch. The test lamp should illuminate when the power folding top switch is activated.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the B+ circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.
5. Ignition OFF, connect a test lamp between the B+ circuit terminal A and the signal circuit terminal B.
6. Ignition ON, command the power folding top to open and close with the power folding top switch. The test lamp should illuminate when the power folding top switch is activated.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.
7. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K23 folding top control module.
8. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 13 and ground.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
9. If all circuits test normal, replace the B43 folding top luggage barrier sensor.
