DTC Descriptor

DTC B3602 5A

-
Folding Top Control Switch Not Plausible

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The folding top control (FTC) module checks the integrity of the signal circuits from the folding top control switch at least once every 125 milliseconds. The folding top control switch is supplied with B+ from the FTC module via the folding top control switch open and close signal circuits. Activating the folding top control switch to the open or close position will pull the positive voltage to low. The FTC module monitors these signal circuits to control the direction of the folding top.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Battery voltage is between 9-16 V.

* Folding top is operated.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The FTC module detects a short to ground on the folding top control switch open signal circuit.

* The FTC module detects a short to ground on the folding top control switch close signal circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Motor continues to run after top opens or closes for about 30 seconds.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.

* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S22B folding top control switch.

2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.

3. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.

If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.

4. Test for B+ between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground.

If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.

5. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.

6. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K23 folding top control module.

7. If all circuits test normal, replace the S22B folding top control switch.
