Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note:
Removal of the intake manifold is NOT required to service the coolant air bleed pipe, but is required to service the coolant air bleed pipe covers and/or gaskets.
1. Drain a gallon of coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).
2. Remove the intake manifold sight shields. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield ReplacementUpper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
3. Remove the throttle air body assembly (1). Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement (Without LS9) Removal and ReplacementThrottle Body Assembly Replacement (LS9) Removal and Replacement.
4. Remove the coolant air bleed hose (2).
5. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts (3).
6. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe (4) and O-rings (5).
Installation Procedure
1. Position the coolant air bleed pipe (4) and O-rings (5) on the cylinder heads.
2. Install the mounting bolts for the coolant air bleed pipe.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Tighten the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts (3).
Tighten the coolant air bleed pipe cover bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
4. Install the coolant air bleed hose (2).
5. Install the throttle air body assembly (1). Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement (Without LS9) Removal and ReplacementThrottle Body Assembly Replacement (LS9) Removal and Replacement.
6. Install the intake manifold sight shields. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield ReplacementUpper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
7. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).
