Adhesive Installation of Hood Windows
Warning:

1. Use a urethane adhesive systems which meet GM Specification GM 3651G.
Note:
Use only lukewarm or cold water, a soft cloth and a car washing soap to clean the hood window.
Note:
If replacing the hood window the seal must be replaced.
2. Remove all mounds or loose pieces of urethane adhesive from the hood window opening area.
3. If the original window is being reused, remove all but approximately 2 mm (3/64 in) of the existing bead of urethane adhesive from the hood opening using the appropriate tool.
4. Verify all primers and urethane adhesive are within expiration dates.
5. Dry fit the window to the hood opening surface in order to determine the correct position.
6. Use masking tape in order to mark the locations of the window in the hood opening.
7. Cut the masking in the center and remove the window from the hood opening.
8. Use a new dauber in order to apply the primer to the hood opening area approximately 10-12 mm around the entire perimeter of the hood and windows, follow manufactures specifications when using urethane adhesive.
9. Cut the applicator nozzle in order to provide a bead of 6 mm wide and 6 mm high.
10. Install the seal along the edge of the hood window opening.
11. Use the seal (1) as a guide to apply the urethane adhesive (2) to the inner surface of the hood (3).
Note:
Ensure that the hood window is face down in the hood opening before installing. Use care when installing the hood window, the urethane adhesive has been applied at this time.
12. Install the hood window (1) into the opening (2).
13. Align the masking tape lines on the window and the body.
14. Press the window firmly into the hood window opening.
15. Tape the window to the hood in order to minimize movement until the urethane adhesive cures.
16. Clean any excess urethane adhesive from the inner and outer panels of the hood.
Note:
Do not direct a hard stream of high pressure water to the freshly applied urethane adhesive.
17. Use a soft spray of warm water in order to immediately water test the hood window.
18. Inspect the window to hood for leaks.
19. If any leaks are found, use a plastic paddle in order to apply extra urethane adhesive at the leak point.
20. Retest the window for leaks.
21. Maintain the following conditions in order to properly cure the urethane adhesive:
* Do not drive the vehicle until the urethane adhesive is cured. Refer to the manufacturer specifications for curing time.
* Do not use compressed air in order to dry the urethane adhesive.
22. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
slowly close the hood to ensure proper alignment.
