Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify the charge indicator on the instrument cluster is off and the driver information center display does not display a charging system message.
• If charge indicator is on or driver information center displays a charging system message
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
• If charge indicator is off and no driver information center messages present
3. All OK.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify that no G13 Generator or B18 Battery Current Sensor DTCs are set that would cause a charging system concern.
• If DTCs are set
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
• If no DTCs are set
3. Ignition OFF, C1 Battery at room temperature.
4. Test for 12 V or greater across the battery terminals.
• If less than 12 V
Refer to Battery Inspection/Test Battery Inspection/Test.
• If 12 V or greater
5. Engine ON, all accessories OFF, increase engine speed to 2,500 RPM.
6. Test for 12.6-15.0 V across the battery terminals.
• If battery voltage is less than 12.6 V or greater than 15 V
Replace the G13 Generator.
• If battery voltage is between 12.6-15.0 V
7. Engine ON, increase engine speed to 2,500 RPM. Turn ON all vehicle accessories.
8. Test for 12.6-15.0 V across the battery terminals.
• If battery voltage is less than 12.6 V or greater than 15 V
Replace the G13 Generator.
• If battery voltage is between 12.6-15.0 V
9. All OK.
Repair Instructions
