Disassembly

When disassembling, keep parts free from dirt, dust and other foreign matter. Also, keep parts in separate groups, according to systems from which they were removed. Soak parts in carburetor cleaner and blow out all passages and orifices with compressed air.
1. Remove main and assist return spring, Fig. 1.
2. Disconnect accelerator pump lever.
3. Disconnect rubber pipe from slow actuator, if applicable.
4. Remove connector hanger and connector, then disconnect automatic choke lead wire. Carefully remove fuel nipple and strainer to prevent damage to strainer.
5. Disconnect switch vent valve lead wire from connector.
6. Remove clip, then disconnect choke connecting rod from counter lever.
7. Disconnect automatic choke vacuum hose from float chamber, then remove choke chamber to float chamber attaching screws and the choke chamber.
8. Remove clip between diaphragm and secondary throttle lever, then loosen diaphragm chamber attaching screws and remove diaphragm chamber.
9. Separate float chamber from throttle chamber.
10. Remove slow actuator, if applicable, then the accelerator pump plunger assembly.
11. Remove float needle valve assembly.
12. Remove level gauge cover or main actuator attaching screws, then the level gauge or main actuator and the float assembly. Ensure not to damage rubber seal or lose float collar.
13. Remove diaphragm cover attaching screws, then separate diaphragm cover, spring and diaphragm. Ensure that check ball and spring are not misplaced.
14. Remove upper float chamber jets, then the injector weight plug, weight, check ball and spring (if applicable).
15. Remove power jet, then the primary and secondary jet plugs and jets.
16. Remove primary slow air bleed from choke chamber. Further disassembly is not required. Do not remove screws retaining primary throttle valve, secondary throttle valve or choke valve.
