Figure No. 1 Stoplamp Switch:

The brake lamp switch adjustment procedure has been revised for the 1988-1989 C/K models. Additional studies have shown that the procedure described below will provide for greater accuracy of adjustment. Whenever the brake lamp switch requires adjustment, the following procedure should be used:

* Start Engine
* Pull Lever (A) Rearward (Towards back of vehicle) Against its Stop (Figure No. 1)
* Depress Brake Pedal Fully While Holding Lever (A) Rearward
* Release Lever and Brake Pedal.

IMPORTANT: The brake lamp switch harness should be connected prior to adjustment.

Other areas that may contribute to a misadjusted brake lamp switch are:

* A binding condition between the eyelet of the brake booster rod and its attachment pin at the pedal.
* Pedal mounting bushings not properly lubricated.
