Disassemble

1. Remove oil pump outer oil seal and pump to case gasket.

2. Remove oil pump to converter housing attaching bolts and separate housing from pump.

3. Remove pump wear plate, mark location of oil pump gears and remove gears from pump.

4. Install clutch spring compressor tool No. J 23327 or equivalent on reverse clutch and compress return springs.

5. Remove retaining ring (231) and release return spring do not allow spring seat to catch in ring groove.

6. Remove J 23327, spring seat and springs.

7. Remove reverse clutch piston by carefully applying compressed air to the "apply" fluid passage, then remove inner and outer piston seals.

8. Do not remove converter clutch control valve, pressure regulator valve or reverse boost valve from pump body unless determined by fluid pressure tests to be malfunctioning. Valves are under spring pressure-use caution when disassembling.






9. Remove pin from converter clutch control port on pump body.

10. Remove pump boost valve sleeve, boost valve, spring, seats and valve.

11. Remove screen, retainer, valve spring and pump seal rings.
