Component Tests and General Diagnostics

The Data Link Connector (DLC) is provided to enable communications with specific control modules using an external Scan Tool. The use of the Scan Tool in control module diagnostics is described in the Engine Controls, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints, and Antilock Brakes. The Data Link PPL (1807) wire allows internal and external Class II communications between control modules as well as with the external Scan Tool. Module to module communications are described and diagnosed. A module to module communication failure due to wiring problems will also result in communications failures with the Scan Tool. The Data Link TAN/WHT (799) 9600 baud rate and TAN (800) 8192 baud rate wires allows internal and external Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) communications with the external Scan Tool.
