Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation

Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve
The IAC valve (1) opens and closes the air bypass passage according to a signal from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When the AC valve opens, air (2) is supplied to the intake manifold which increases the engine RPM for various engine loads.
