Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
4. Remove the end bolt (3) from the fuel feed inlet hose (2) to the fuel filter.
5. Remove the fuel feed inlet hose (2) from the fuel filter (1).
6. Remove the end bolt (6) and the fuel feed outlet hose (5) from the fuel filter.
7. Remove the two bolts (4) and the fuel filter mounting bracket from the underbody.
8. Loosen the retaining bolt from the fuel filter bracket and the fuel filter (1) from the fuel filter mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the fuel filter mounting bracket-to-fuel filter.
2. Secure the fuel filter to mounting bracket with one retaining bolt and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
3. Install the fuel filter mounting bracket to the underbody.
4. Secure the fuel filter mounting bracket with the two bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
5. Connect the fuel feed outlet hose to the fuel filter.
6. Secure the fuel feed outlet hose with the fuel feed outlet end bolt (6) and tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).
7. Connect the fuel feed inlet hose to the fuel filter.
8. Secure the fuel feed inlet hose with the fuel feed inlet end bolt (3) and tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten the terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
11. Turn the ignition switch ON and then OFF in order to pressurize the fuel system.
12. Check for any fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
