Speedometer Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the previous odometer. If the same mileage cannot be set, then the law requires that the following actions take place:
^ Set the replacement odometer to zero.
^ Install a label on the driver's side door frame showing the following information:
^ The previous odometer reading
^ The date of replacement

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the cluster assembly from the panel.
3. Remove the cluster lens (7) and bezel (6) assembly from the cluster housing (3) by releasing the 8 black plastic tabs.




4. Remove the 4 screws (2) and the speedometer from the cluster housing.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the speedometer gauge to the cluster housing. Secure the gauge with the 4 screws (2).




2. Install the cluster lens (7) and the bezel (6) to the cluster housing (3).
3. Install the cluster assembly to the panel.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
