Planetary Carrier and Output Assembly Removal
1. Remove the input sun gear bearing (330).
2. Remove the input sun gear to the planetary carrier thrust washer (337).
3. Remove the planetary carrier assembly (338).
4. Inspect the planetary carrier (338) and output shaft for damage and distortion.
5. Inspect the planetary pinions for damage and chipped teeth.
6. Remove the reaction sun gear and drum (403).
7. Remove the reaction sun gear bearing and thrust washer (401).
8. Inspect the reaction sun gear and drum for chipped teeth, worn bushing and scored drum.
9. Remove the reaction sun gear bearing and thrust washer assembly (401) located in the case or on the bottom of the planetary carrier assembly.
10. Remove the brake band (404) from the transmission case. Note the location.
11. Inspect the brake band (404) for cracks, flaking and heat damage.
