Cylinder Head Disassemble

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 37979 Valve Spring Compressor Adaptor
- J 8062 Valve Spring Compressor
- J 37968 Valve Guide Seal Installer Kit

IMPORTANT: Keep all of the disassembled parts in order by cylinder so that they may be installed in their original position, except the valve stem seals and valve guides, which must be replaced.





1. Remove the rocker arm shaft from the cylinder head (1).





2. Use a J 8062 with a J 37979 in order to compress the valve springs. Remove all of the valve keepers (1) from the valves.

IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the valve stem seals (1) once disassembled. Be sure to use new seals when reassembling.





3. Remove the following from the cylinder head:
^ The valve spring retainers
^ The valve springs
^ The valve spring seats (2)
^ The valve stem oil seals

IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the valve guides once disassembled. Ensure that new valve guides are used when reassembling.





4. Using a J 37968 and a hammer in order to drive the valve guide out of the cylinder head (1), remove the valve guides from the combustion chamber side of the cylinder head.
5. Repeat the procedure for the remaining valve assemblies as required.
