Valve Body and Accumulator Pistons Removal

REMOVAL





1. Remove the fluid pan and the gasket (2).





2. Remove the TV cable (2) from the transmission case (3).
3. Remove the electrical connectors from the torque convertor (TCC) solenoid and the shift solenoid assembly.





4. Remove the fifteen bolts that attach the valve body (1) to the transmission case.





5. Lift the valve body slowly and disconnect the TV cable (3) and the TV cable cam (2). Remove the valve body from the transmission case.
6. Remove the one bolt and the solenoid wiring harness from the transmission case.





7. Cover the accumulators with a clean cloth.
8. Apply low compressed air slowly to the fluid passages until the air pressure forces the following items out of the case bores:
^ The second brake accumulator
^ The direct clutch accumulator
^ The forward clutch accumulator

9. Inspect the accumulator pistons for the following:
^ Cracks
^ Scarring
^ Damage

10. Inspect the accumulator springs for the following:
^ Weakness
^ Cracks
^ Damage

11. Inspect the piston seals for the following:
^ Cuts
^ Damage

12. Inspect the accumulator case bores for the following:
^ Scars
^ Nicks
^ Pitting
