Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor assembly harness connector.




3. Separate the MAF/IAT sensor assembly and the air inlet tube by loosening the hose clamp.

NOTE: Handle the MAF/IAT sensor carefully. Do not drop the MAF/IAT sensor. Do not damage the screen located at the air inlet end of the MAF/IAT. Do not touch the sensing elements. Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements. Use a small amount of SPO P/N 12345884 lubricant or the soap based equivalent in order to aid in the installation.




4. Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly from the air cleaner cover by loosening the hose clamp.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Ensure to point the flow arrow on the MAF/IAT sensor assembly away from the air cleaner assembly.




1. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly and the air cleaner cover by tightening the hose clamp.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in)




2. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly and the air inlet tube by tightening the hose clamp.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in)




3. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor harness connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
