Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure^ Tool(s) Required
- J 35271 Flywheel Holder
- J 34853 Crankshaft Oil Seal Guide
1. Remove the engine oil pan.
2. Remove the engine timing belt.
3. Remove the oil level indicator from the guide tube.
4. Remove the two bolts (2) and the guide tube (1) with the O-ring from the oil pump.
5. Use a J 35271 on the flywheel (1) in order to lock the crankshaft.
6. Remove the crankshaft timing belt gear bolt (1).
7. Remove the crankshaft timing belt gear (2).
8. Remove the following from the cylinder block:
^ The seven oil pump assembly bolts.
^ The oil pump assembly (1).
^ The gasket.
^ The rubber oil pump-to-coolant pump seals.
^ The two guide pins.
9. Clean the following assemblies:
^ The cylinder block.
^ The oil pump.
^ The oil pan mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure

1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the J 34853.
2. Use the J 34853 in order to install the oil seal over the crankshaft.
3. Slide the oil pump assembly into position on the cylinder block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Secure the oil pump assembly with the seven bolts.
Tighten the oil pump bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
5. Inspect the oil seal lip to ensure the oil seal lip is not upturned.
6. Remove the J 34853.
7. Install the crankshaft timing belt gear. Secure the timing belt gear with one bolt.
Tighten the crankshaft timing belt gear to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove the J 35271 from the flywheel.
9. Install the guide tube with a new O-ring and the oil level indicator to the cylinder block. Secure the guide tube with a new O-ring and the oil level indicator with two bolts.
Tighten the guide tube bolts to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the engine timing belt.
11. Install the engine oil pan.
12. Refill the engine oil according to the specifications.
13. Check the oil pressure upon completion of the installation.
