A history (DTC) B0887/B0689 may be found by the technician when working on the PASS-Key(R) III system.

The Instrument Panel Cluster is powered down when the key is turned OFF. However, the PASS-Key(R) III module remains powered up for an additional 10 seconds. During this 10 seconds the PASS-Key(R) III module is performing several diagnostic routines. During the diagnostic routine, with the lack of power to the cluster, the PASS-Key(R) III module finds a lack of voltage which is interpreted as an open/short in the PASS-Key(R) III tell-tale circuit in the cluster. With the next key cycle, the cluster will power up and the PASS-Key(R) III module will now recognize the voltage and the DTC is stored as a history DTC.

No repair should be attempted.
