Horn Switch
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove the inflator restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
4. Remove the horn contact from the steering column.
5. Remove the 4 TORX head screws from the 2 contact plates.
6. Remove the 2 contact plates from the steering column.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the 2 contact plates to the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the 4 TORX head screws in order to secure the 2 contact plates to the steering column.
- Tighten the screws to 3 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Install the horn contact to the steering column.
4. Install the inflator module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Enable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
Perform the idle learn procedure for 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L engines only. Refer to PCM Idle Learn Procedure in Powertrain Management.
