Steering Column Seal

- J42640 Anti-Rotation Pin

Removal Procedure





1. Install the J42640 in the steering column lower access hole.
2. Remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement.





3. Remove the bolts retaining the lower steering column seal (1).
4. Remove the lower steering column seal from the vehicle.





5. Remove the upper steering column seal from the steering column.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the upper steering column seal to the steering column.





2. Install the lower steering column seal to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the bolts retaining the lower steering column seal (1).
Tighten the retaining bolts to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
4. Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement.





5. Remove the J42640 from the steering column lower access hole.
