Flex Plate: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the automatic transmission, if equipped. Refer to the appropriate procedure from the following list:
^ Transmission Replacement
^ Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L80-E

3. Remove the automatic transmission flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Removal.





4. Remove the manual transmission, if equipped. Refer to the appropriate procedure from the following list:
^ Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 3500
^ Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 4500

5. Remove the manual transmission flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Removal.
6. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Clean and Inspect.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the manual transmission flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Installation
2. Install the manual transmission. Refer to the appropriate procedure from the following list:
^ Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 3500
^ Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 4500





3. Install the automatic transmission flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Installation.
4. Install the automatic transmission, if equipped. Refer to the appropriate procedure from the following list:
^ Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E
^ Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L80-E

5. Connect the negative battery cable.
